text: If a woman is not divorced for adultery or other fault but merely for incompatibility, her husband must pay some damages, usually small, as compensation for the shame to which she has been put. She may be divorced for theft as well as for adultery, as it is thought that she might offer herself to any man who saw her stealing, as an inducement to keep his mouth shut.
