text: While I dozed, Bill went to see the village where Luzukhu, an old retired interpreter lives. He gossiped about past Deputy Commissioners and described the building of the bungalow by Punjabis in 1912. He showed Bill photos taken by Pawsey where he stood proudly with his six wives. 'But I had to divorce five when I became a Christian,' he said. 'They were all content and have remarried and all of us have been baptized.' But now he has to keep eight boys and girls in his house to do the field work that his wives used to do.
