text: When my husband returned from Burma in March, 1946, the Nzemi of Magulong, which we visited shortly before our departure for northern Assam, informed us that they did not recognise a Church ceremony of marriage and wished us to go through an Nzemi ceremony. On our agreeing, Khutuing, the junior headman of Magulong and a man of the Neomi moiety, adopted me as his (vii) daughter and the essential parts of the ceremony, including the exchange of gifts between groom and bride's father, the payment of bride-wealth, the omen-taking, giving of household equipment to the bride by her father [4 [Record T86664]
