text: After the first Hga-ngi following his marriage the young husband first finds a suitable house-site and then calls in the men of his kienga to build a house for him. He may occupy any house-site which happens to be vacant and will for choice select one near his father's or other kinsman's house. If, however, the village is healthy and expanding and there are no vacant house-sites available in the main street, he will have to make new site by cutting a house-platform on a subsidiary street on the village outskirts.
