text: Up early writing. In fact writing and making arrangements for a start all day. A dak came in this afternoon. The one I ought to have opened at Rechim, when two parcels turned up one containing a warm knitted waistcoat and mittens. They were addressed outside to me but turned out an overland parcel. I thought the other parcel was the same and sent both back to Walter Butler. He returned the packet and letters which reached us this afternoon. By same dak came my new sporran from John. Sent back old one to Martin (22) to be returned to Halford. Wrote again till 1 a.m. It is too bad of old Thuillier to expect me to write any letters to C.C., Badgley and himself. Keatinge wants my letters in duplicate to prevent miscarriage.
