text: 12th August 1871. Received two letters from Driberg this morning informing me that the Commissioner desired me to bring some "Specimens of the Hill Tribes" down to meet Lieut.-Governor at Tezpur. So taking 6 Nagas and 2 Kukies with me, I started off from Samaguting in the afternoon and managing to secure a boat on the Dhunsiri, left Dimapur about 7 p.m.
text: 13th August, Sunday. Having gone all night, I reached Horiojan about 1 p.m.
text: 14th August. Went all night again and reached Borpathar about 11 a.m.
text: 15th August. Going night and day, reached Golaghat about 8 a.m. Here I was delayed all day procuring two extra boats for I had had quite enough inconvenience during the last three days living packed up like so many herrings in a cask. However after a great deal of trouble, I succeeded in leaving Golaghat by 7 p.m. in the midst of a heavy storm of wind and rain.
text: 16th August. By going all night I reached Dhunsirimukh about 10 a.m.
text: 17th August. Going night and day we reached Koliabor this morning about 8 a.m. Here I met the Commissioner and Lieut.- Governor and moved my traps on board the former's steamer.
text: 18th August. On board the Commissioner's steamer. We passed the Dhunsirimukh about 9 a.m.
text: 19th August. On board the steamer still. Had a long conversation today with His Honour the Lieutenant Governor regarding matters connected with the Naga Hills.
text: 20th August. Arrived at Debrugarh.
text: 21st to 23rd August. Stayed at Debrugarh.
text: 24th August. Leaving Debrugarh this morning about 6 a.m. We reached the Dhunsirimukh a little after 6 p.m. Here I bid adieu to His Honour and the Commissioner and embarked once more on board my own boat.
text: 25th August. Anchored below Numaligarh.
text: 26th August. Passed Kumangaon about midday.
text: 27th August. Passed Kumtai about 2 p.m.
text: 28th August. Reached Golaghat about 8 p.m.
