text: 27. The relations between the inhabitants of the Naga Hills district and the semi-independent Naga tribes upon its borders were generally satisfactory during 1885-86. Our Naga subjects were able to travel with safety on their trading expeditions beyond the limits of the district. An exception occurred in the Eastern Angami village of Zogazumi, where a man from Lozema was murdered. Mr. Davis marched to this village, inquired in the case, and as the actual murderer could not be discovered, though it was known the village was responsible for the murder, Mr. Davis imposed a fine of Rs.300 on the village, which was paid before he quitted the place.
