text: The time of carefree days spent at play with agemates in the deserted village and of evenings, nights, and mornings in the cosy atmosphere of the parental home drew to an end when a boy reached his eighth or ninth year. At this age he was already familiar with his father's morung, where he had often played when the great hall was empty and most men were at work in the fields, but now, he became a member of the morung in his own right and, henceforth, spent his nights in the company of the unmarried boys and men.
